Save Urban Agrarian: Fund Essential Repairs

Hello to all who value good, local food!

Urban Agrarian is a local grocery store with locations in OKC and downtown Edmond. The owners have put their heart and soul into this company since 2008, and many locals are grateful to them for this. Chelesy and Matt do their best to provide us with good, healthy, well produced, local groceries. Since the beginning of 2024, the company has struggled financially. There has been a decline in sales due to a number of reasons, the main one being their chicken producer going out of business. They have worked to find replacements, but they haven't been as popular due to its high price. As the financial hardship increased, their ability to afford inventory has decreased, resulting in them unable to buy whole cows. So chicken and beef have been absent from their shelves.

They have cut expenses as much as they can, as well as applied for grants and lines of credit. They have pursued more than $650,000 worth of grants and other financial aid. While they have been relatively successful, none of the grants have hit their bank accounts yet. They are approaching a critical point where they don't have the necessary cash flow to pay their bills.

With all that being said, this past Tuesday (8/6/24), their produce and dairy case was getting warmer. These two pieces of refrigeration are connected to one compressor. Several months ago they were told the units had an unidentified refrigerant leak, which they had hoped would be a slow leak, it was not. On top of this their oven in the back is down, so there is no hot food at the moment. With that, it is also their last week of peaches in tomatoes, which is what spikes their cash flow every year. My goal is to raise money for a new dairy and produce case, as well as any repairs needed on their oven, so that the money they will receive from the grants can go to what they originally intended them for. Any bit will help, my hope that with how much they have helped the local community, that the community will help them back!
