Well TikTok dog lovers, we meet again…
Back in May, this community came together for a then “no-named” Belgian Malinois who’d been hit by a car, brought to the shelter, and immediately given a deadline because of her injuries. At that time, she had zero rescue or adoption interest. You all saw her worth when others didn’t and raised $1,700 for her surgery in just THREE DAYS! Her new family found her from the videos I posted to TikTok, and went above and beyond to adopt her and cover the remaining surgery costs. I'll never forget how grateful they were for the financial support they received from all the kind strangers touched by now “Sky’s” story.
Thanks to your prayers, support, and sharing her story, Sky is living a happy, healthy life. Now I’m hoping we can do the same for Turkey — a Dutch Shepherd at Miami-Dade Animal Shelter who is set to be euthanized TOMORROW, 9/21, due to severe injuries unless a rescue or adopter steps up to get him private medical care. The shelter simply doesn’t have the resources for this level of care.
It appears Turkey may have been hit by a car. He has bilateral fractures in both front legs plus abrasions on his nose and face. Each leg could cost anywhere from $4,000–$6,000 to repair, totaling $12,000 or more.
Here’s what the average costs look like:
- Orthopedic consult & imaging: $400–$800 (includes exam, sedation, X-rays)
- Radius/ulna fracture repair (plate + screws): $3,500–$6,000 per leg
- Hospitalization & post-op care: $500–$1,500 (pain meds, bandage changes, monitoring)
- Follow-up visits & imaging: $300–$800 (2–3 visits with radiographs)
My goal is to show a rescue that there is enough community support and financial backing for them to confidently step up and claim Turkey — knowing they’ll be able to afford the care he needs. It would also be a total blessing to find a surgical center willing to offer a discount or perform the surgery pro bono.
If you’re looking for ways to help, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser with someone who can. Every share, prayer, and penny truly helps.
I will post updates to here as soon as I have any!
Thank you for loving and supporting Turkey.
God bless!
