My name is Jesse. Yesterday, May 15th, I was doing some work for my company at a house. These dogs were tied up; I'm not sure how long, but it looked like they were on their last days, literally. I couldn't look at the dogs like that and not do anything.
After I got off, my wife and I went back to the house and took the dogs. They are now at our house. I rushed into the decision, yes, but I knew animal control wouldn't be able to give the proper care, love, and attention these dogs desperately needed, and doing nothing was just not an option. So, I have them at my house, and my plan is to get them back to good health and then find a home for them.
I do have a dog and a cat of my own. I’m able to afford to feed and house them, but I have no clue how much it's going to cost for a vet. I’ve looked up a lot of places/shelters/lost cost clinics, and even the “most affordable clinics in Jacksonville” were going to cost a significant amount to diagnose and treat these guys. These dogs were so close to not making it. I don’t know how old they are, or how long they’ve lived in neglect, but they appear to be pretty young, with a long life ahead of them. A life that deserves health and safety and compassion and never have to live the way I saw them living again.
I will be taking them to get checked tomorrow, and my wife and I will figure out how to afford the treatment to get them healthy and take care of them, if that's what it takes. Maybe my decision wasn’t the best financially responsible move to make, but I just couldn’t leave them there to die. So I thought I’d jump on here and share with my community and give the chance to anyone who wanted to contribute to help save these dogs' lives and show them that not all humans are terrible.
I have no idea the total cost this will all come out to be, I am just estimating based on the prices I’ve been researching from the low costs local pet clinics snd from what I’ve paid for my own pets before in the past, and it’s a substantial amount. Honestly, anything would be greatly appreciated, from financial donations, to food, treats, toys, comfort items, hygiene items, medicine costs, advice, suggestions, anything. And I say this only because I know these days some people go a little overboard with asking for help with things, so I’d like to mention that any items or money that we raise at all, I will follow back on this post and add in receipts and pictures of the dogs as we continue to care for them.
These dogs are the sweetest and kindest dogs I've ever seen. They have been around me, my wife, and my 6-year-old son without any issues (we have kept our dog and cat separate for now, for obvious reasons).
Please, Anyone that can help in any way, even if it's not money, can reach out to me. Even advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
* 1st and 2nd pictures above are the girl and the boy tied up outside, on separate sides of the house, with their leashes wrapped around so tight they had hardly any room to move. And not given shelter of any kind, not a blanket, not a toy, no shade, and the only reason the water bowl is there is because I gave them water before I took them.
And here they are, safe at my home, eating a well deserved dinner.
