Save the Yarinya

The Yarinya is one of the original five ever built wooden Yonne class Harrison-Butlers. She was built in 1933 and resembles maritime heritage and elegance until this day.

Constructed completely from Oak and Mahogany, this old lady represents the heyday of shipbuilding, when the smell of Stockholm tar filled the harbours and pubs and guaranteed you a free drink at the bar.

With a lot of TLC, we have maintained this elegant lady for many years. Unfortunately, and due to wrongly executed repairs that have been done way before our time as custodians, we have discovered that the keel has rotten away completely. Something that endangers the integrity and build of the whole ship.

We have managed to sail her to one of the best shipwrights in the Netherlands (Heerlien & Adema in Workum), and they have estimated the restoration to take at least 2 months with a price tag to match it. We managed to save 7000 Euros, but are still far off the final amount.
Having a wooden boat is never easy, but it is about preserving maritime heritage, a naval jewel from the last century, the art of shipbuilding and sailing as inheritance for future generations.
Can you help us save this 90 year old lady and conserve her for the future?
