Save The Work

Hey yall! I'm Kaleb (a young creative and activist from Chicago) and it is with a heavy heart that I write this message. I normally don't ask for support in this way, but this time I had no other options. 

My babies - my cameras, lens, and phone- have all been destroyed. My camera and lens are essential to my livelihood, I'm a photographer and filmmaker. But more than that my camera has given me and helped me explore freedom. Just this pass two weeks, I've documented many actions and protest for organizers and organizations to use in their communication plans. 

While at an action outside Lori Lightfoot's house, I had my camera in my bag. While I was leading chants during the march portion of the action, I sat my bag in a car following our route. It seems that something spilled on my bag and I didn't notice until the action was over and I'd dropped some folks off at home. After trying to revive my camera, I have to buy another. The warranty doesn't cover incidents like such.  This camera and lens was my graduation (CO 2020) gift from myself, my family, and friends.

This is where your support comes in. I am raising seven thousand dollars to replace that camera and lens, and also the proper insurance to may sure this never happens again. The other funds will help with a new phone and any extra funds will go towards a new laptop. Rename Douglas Park Campaign Relaunch

Please note that this gear is not just essential to my creative work but also my organizing work. I can't organize folks to clean up and deliver mutual aid out west with no phone. Nor can I document history actions with no camera.
