Hi Everyone

My name is Cherrie Ericks. I am the founder of Talitha Cumi, a not for profit organisation that supports women and children surviving domestic violence and abuse. It is estimated that 1.6 million women over the age 16 experienced domestic violence and abuse at some point in their lives in UK alone and will most likely experience repeated abuse over a period of time. This figure will most likely be way greater in African countries where culture and traditions overlook women's rights and allow perpetrators to go unpunished. This is not to say men do not suffer domestic violence and abuse, however,

women are more vulnerable to abuse than men and will most likely experience physical injuries and death as a result on the hands of their husbands or partners. Children who grow up in domestic violence households will experience childhood trauma that impacts them for the rest of their lives.

Child sexual abuse constitutes a 3rd of all sexual crimes in the UK! That is a scary number to fathom!

The money I am raising will help us fund activities to support women and children who are surviving or are survivors of domestic violence and also for children who are sexually abused. During their time of escape, in safe houses, they will require food, clothes and blankets. This money will do exactly that. To meet them at their point of need.
