THEIR STORY:
Due to the unfortunate and horrible crisis that Venezuela is facing today, it has become increasingly difficult for people and even more for animals to survive. There is a great lack of food, medicines and first need products, with a huge inflation and the devaluation of the Bolivar, it is almost impossible to access them in the black market.
In this video, we can see the existence of felines in captivity, not only in conditions not in accordance with their wild nature, but repressed of their instinct to hunt, run and climb. A situation that is currently occurring in Barinas, Venezuela, specifically in the Botanical Garden of the UNELLEZ University, which used to be a Zoo many years ago. There are three jaguars, three ocelots and two pumas, enclosed in small cages of cement, without any hygiene and without keeping the minimum conditions suitable to preserve their health.
In addition, their feeding is not adequate, nor sufficient, since they are fed every two to three days with decomposing chicken residues, reason why they are decayed, weak and with symptoms of malnutrition.
This situation causes them disorders such as stress, depression, inappetence, claustrophobia, decay and irritability, resulting from the loss of freedom and separation from their natural habitat, as well as the lack of wild activity and motivation to obtain food by themselves.
These beautiful felines are exposed to multiple illnesses, in addition to the fact that they live in a sad and unfortunate way, since they are repressed in small cages and in enclosures of cement; without trees and without being able to enjoy its natural surroundings, although the place of captivity should measure 25 m² for a single specimen, with natural trees and poles to climb and exercise. Likewise, they should receive a diet that can support their nutritional needs, similar to the one that they consume in the wild, and of course, with protein suitable for their consumption, to prevent diseases.
OUR GOAL:
Because of this, as independent protectionists, Sergio Vera and I (Ivana Castro), both originally from Barinas, Venezuela, with access to the Botanical Garden and the support and trust of the authorities and staff, have set out the goal of collecting the amount of $15,000 as soon as possible, for the purchase of the right foods, in order to improve their nutrition, as well as to carry out the necessary procedures so laboratory tests can be performed and thus accurately determine the deficiencies they may present and provide them medicines, vitamins and/or nutritional supplements that they may require for their recovery. As well as, later in the future, activate the mechanisms that lead to the solution of the state of repression in which these beautiful felines are. However, it is of the utmost urgency that these animals consume adequate food and receive the proper care in the immediate term.
Currently in the Botanical Garden of the UNELLEZ University:
• 3 Jaguars
• 3 Ocelots
• 2 Pumas
• 1 Vietnamese Pot-bellied Pig † Died on 06/08/2017.
• 1 Scarlet macaw
• 1 Dog
(Each of these animals will receive help with the money raised on this campaign.)
Your donation will benefit these innocent animals who are locked up unjustly and without the proper care and the right conditions.
Each week, we will convert the amount of dollars raised to bolivares, to cover the following expenses:
• Food
• Vet expenses
• Clean water

SU HISTORIA:
Debido a la lamentable situación que Venezuela enfrenta hoy en día, se ha hecho cada vez más difícil para las personas y aún más para animales poder subsistir. Existe una gran falta de alimentos, medicinas y productos de primera necesidad, conjunto con una enorme inflación y devaluación del Bolívar que hace casi imposible acceder a los mismos a precio fuera del mercado.
En el video, se puede observar la existencia de animales felinos en cautiverio, en condiciones no acorde con su naturaleza salvaje. Reprimidos de su instinto de cazar, acechar, trepar y correr. Esta situación ocurre actualmente en Barinas, Venezuela, específicamente en el Jardín Botánico de la UNELLEZ, el cual solía ser un Zoológico hace varios años atrás. Se trata de tres jaguares, tres cunaguaros y dos pumas, encerrados en pequeñas jaulas de cemento, sin higiene alguna, sin guardar el mínimo de condiciones aptas para preservar su salud.
Sumado a lo anterior, su alimentación no es adecuada, ni suficiente, ya que son alimentados cada dos a tres días con residuos de pollo en descomposición, por lo que se encuentran decaídos, débiles y con síntomas de desnutrición.
Esta situación les ocasiona trastornos como estrés, depresión, inapetencia, claustrofobia, decaimiento e irritabilidad, producto de la pérdida de libertad y de haberlos separado de su hábitat natural, así como también la falta de actividad salvaje y de motivación para obtener el alimento por sus propios medios.
Estos hermosos felinos están expuestos a sufrir múltiples enfermedades, en adición al hecho de que viven de una forma triste y lamentable, ya que se encuentran reprimidos en pequeñas jaulas y en encierros de cemento; sin árboles y sin poder disfrutar de su entorno natural. Aun cuando el lugar de cautiverio debería medir 25 m² para un único ejemplar, con árboles naturales y postes para poder trepar y ejercitarse. Igualmente, deben recibir una alimentación que pueda sustentar sus necesidades nutricionales, con una dieta similar a la que consumen en estado silvestre y por supuesto, con proteína apta para el consumo de los mismos, evitando así enfermedades.
NUESTRA META:
En razón de lo anterior, como proteccionistas independientes, Sergio Vera y yo (Ivana Castro), ambos originalmente de Barinas, Venezuela, con acceso al Jardin Botanico y el apoyo y confianza de los funcionarios y autoridades que actualmente trabajan en este lugar, nos hemos trazado la meta de recaudar la cantidad de $15,000 a la brevedad posible, para la compra de los alimentos adecuados, con el fin de mejorar su nutrición, así como realizar los trámites necesarios para que se le practiquen exámenes de laboratorio y así determinar con exactitud las deficiencias que puedan presentar y suministrarles medicinas, vitaminas o suplementos alimenticios que requieran para su recuperación. Así como también, posteriormente, activar los mecanismos pertinentes que conduzcan a la solución del estado de represión en que se encuentran estos hermosos felinos. Sin embargo, es de suma urgencia que estos animales consuman alimentos suficientes y adecuados, asi como tambien que reciban los cuidados necesarios en el plazo inmediato.
Actualmente en el Jardín Botánico de la UNELLEZ:

• 3 Cunaguaros
• 2 Pumas
• 1 Cochina Vietnamita † Murió el 08/06/2017.
• 1 Guacamaya
• 1 Perro
(Cada uno de estos animales recibirá ayuda con el dinero recaudado en esta campaña.)
Su donación beneficiará a estos inocentes animales que se encuentran encerrados sin causa justa y sin el cuidado correcto y las condiciones adecuadas.
Cada semana se transformará la cantidad recaudada de dólares a bolívares para cubrir los siguientes gastos:

Un simple dólar podría ayudar mucho a estos pequeños animalitos.
