Save The Summit!

**DONOR REWARDS LISTED AT BOTTOM!**

The purpose of this fundraiser is for the support of our Columbus local music venue, The Summit Music Hall.

Owned and operated by music lovers Chris, Trey, and Rob, The Summit Music Hall is the expansion of longstanding music venue The Summit. For over a decade, the venue has operated alongside sister venue and next door neighbor, Cafe Bourbon St.

Our mission is to bring joy, depth, and meaning to peoples lives through live music and the community of fans and artists that we serve.

As of March 14, 2020, our team made the decision to close our doors in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. The following day, governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health issued a Director's Order that closed all bars and restaurants to in-house patrons.

Since our time of closing, there has been substantial financial loss. While precise figures are unknown, the loss of revenue is well into the six-figure territory. We take this loss dutifully, knowing what we gain in return.

With roughly 30,000 attendees not hosted, and a 5% contraction rate in Ohio, we have prevented approximately 1500 cases of the virus. The national death rate sits at two percent.

In these terms, it is an obvious choice to remain closed.

Though restrictions on bars, restaurants, and live events have  been softened, our position remains the same. The safety and well being of our family, friends, customers, and staff are the #1 priority. As cases rise continue to rise, we remain vigilant in our stance, while being resourceful and creative in our approach to weathering this pandemic.

Our alignment is with people. We will always put our people first. We are committed to the cultivation and support of artists, the wonderful community surrounding us, and the safety of every individual that comes through our doors. We wish to continue the legacy of live music on OSU campus for many years to come.

Loss of revenue, compounded with pre-existing debt, and ongoing expenses, we have reached a point where actions need to be taken in order to restore balance to our budget.

It is for this reason that we are asking the community to support us during this time. Donating to this fundraiser will help us in our mission to provide you with wonderful live events, and support the ongoing cultivation of our wonderfully diverse, beautiful community.  #SaveTheSummit means saving live music on campus, and saving the community of people that surround these events.

Proceeds will be balanced between ongoing expenses associated with keeping our venue closed, and the launch of our strategic pivot / restaurant, Crunchwerks.

Specifically, these expenses include rent, utilities, debt repayment, kitchen maintenance, food costs, labor costs, and various costs associated with starting a new business, such as web hosting, marketing materials, kitchen equipment, and so on.

By reaching our $14,000 goal, we will be in a position to generate revenue through food sales, while managing our ongoing expenses. This will aid in the process of opening the doors to our beloved music venue again, when the time is right.

Refraining from hosting hazardous events is an easy decision for us to make. You are the lifeblood of our mission, and we are in this for the long haul. Supporting this fundraiser now means we continue to serve you for years to come.

We're humbled and grateful for the opportunities in front of us, and for the mutual respect and support of our community.

From all of us here at The Summit Music Hall, thank you, happy holidays, and cheers to a brighter future.

-Chris, Rob, Trey
