Save the Sicinski's from the bedbugs!

Hello friends,

'I'm going to approach this like an episode of Shark Tank.

The Ask-

Help me relocate and safely get settled in a clean, bug-free home for me and my 2 boys, plus replace a lot of furniture.

The Reason-

Multiple issues with bedbugs in my apartment building over an 11 year period, has annihilated most of our furniture and personal belongings. As a single parent tenant in an apartment, I cannot even begin to relay to you how much work it has been to prepare for over 30 sprays and another 10 or so inspections.

We are in the midst of another problem, and as someone who has always followed the rules for disposal and packing of belongings to avoid further infestation, it is frustrating to see people disposing of belongs by dragging couches down the hallway and stairs to the dumpster, which means those bugs are now EVERYWHERE in the building once again (and the cycle begins again). Every time that poison is sprayed, it destroys your furniture a little bit more (for the tings you don’t have to directly throw out).

For those who don't know what you have to do to get ready for a spray- Inspect and pack EVERYTHING 4 feet and below. Throw out some of what you own because you don't know if there are bedbug eggs on it or not. That includes things like your oldest child's first report card, 18 years later, and family momentos that cannot be replaced. Take down curtains. Move all electronics to the kitchen. Vacuum every day between sprays, which is difficult when you have no idea when the next spray is. Supposed to be in 2 weeks, but not always the case. Live out of bins during this time. Now do this at least 30 times over 11 years. Yuck.

I know you're saying right now- JUST MOVE, and you are right, that is what we need to do, for sure! It is time. I have checked, and my tenant insurance does not cover the peril of bedbugs for any of my furniture or belongings lost. I can get help with a new damage deposit (to a certain amount), but not an overlap in rent, which will allow us time to safely move to a new place, and bring zero bugs with us. The budget is tight, and that's how we live, and here is where we would really appreciate your help.

Right now, We have been packed up for 2 months. I can't tell you exactly the dollar value of all the things I had to buy, and all the things we have lost. We need to replace all living room furniture, as well as 2 entire bedroom sets, plus other storage shelves and such that are wicker. Bed pillows, and all of the things that are cushy and bedbugs might want to hide in/nest are gone as well.

I could tell you the story about the day I realized the first time I had bedbugs and I woke up to my couch crawling, with what looked like tiny lints to obviously much bigger bugs. I live with those creepy crawlie memories every day, and I try my best to keep us safe by proactively spraying isopropyl on attractive surfaces on the daily. Hello bug PTSD. I really would like to spend my energy doing something else-anything else. Yes, it is time to get out of here.

I need a 1 month overlap for moving, that would mean paying rent in 2 spots, as I don't want to be the asshole that brings bedbugs unintentionally. Once that move is safely done, then we will need to replace the comforts of living (furniture), in our new, bug free home.

The Reward-

Knowing that you have helped us initiate a very important new beginning. This would mark a new chapter for me and my boys and we would be forever grateful for your role in helping us. <3
