For decades, a truly unique piece of Toronto has brightened our streets: Albino Carreira’s van — completely covered in seashells and eclectic objects — a beloved local landmark that has made people smile, wonder, and connect with the city’s creative spirit.
Albino, a longtime Toronto resident, poured years of love into decorating both his van and home with shells, stones, coins, and small treasures — transforming ordinary surfaces into something people stop to admire. Now, the van is up for sale, and there’s an opportunity to preserve part of this creative legacy for the city, not tuck it away or see it disappear.
Albino is currently focused on his recovery in hospital, and his family also needs help with essential repairs on his home’s roof — a pressing, practical need that affects his safety and comfort.
Your support through this fundraiser will help:
✨ Raise funds for the roof repair on Albino’s house — making sure he’s safe and secure while he recovers.
Keep the van where it belongs — in a place where Torontonians can continue to enjoy it (whether that’s with the city, a museum, or a community organization).
️ Preserve a quirky, creative piece of local culture that has become a familiar sight for residents and visitors alike.
No amount is too small — whether it helps with Albino’s home repairs or supports efforts to keep this one‑of‑a‑kind van in public view, every contribution matters. He needs 12,000 but we have started the goal low at 3,000. Lets get his roof fixed!
Thank you for supporting a neighbour, a local landmark, and the joy he’s brought to so many.
