As a concerned resident I have come to learn of the current plight of financial hardship that is a burden on one Vernon's greatest assets.
I reached out to the Society and asked if I might assist them by starting a Go Fund Me fundraiser in hopes it might assist and perhaps solve the financial troubles they race. My offer and and my letter below was discussed by the Society Board and I am very pleased that they have approved and given me permission to go forward with implementing the Go Fund Me plan in place for the benefit of the Society.
The Schubert Centre of Vernon has been part of our Community since 1984. While it has primarily been thought of as a gathering place for Seniors, it is and has always been more. It is both a social and recreational gathering spot. Many people in our fair Okanagan Valley have been to weddings, gala's, dances, held meetings, had coffee/tea and lunch, played cards, exercise groups and classes and used the on-site catering over the years.
Let's not lose a corner stone icon of Vernon. It is no secret that our landmark has been struggling over the years, and it is publicly known via a web search that the Centre is deeply in debt. We need to rally and help rescue this fine venue and I hope that a Go Fund Me event for the Schubert Centre is a perfect social media platform to make this happen.
The million dollar goal for fund raising is SOLELY for the REDUCTION of the DEBT. The Schubert Centre is a Not for Profit Society and is a Registered Charity. Tax deductible receipts (tax receipts) for donations will be issued via the donation to Go Fund Me. Once the debt load is under control, the Schubert Centre can look forward to a bright and enduring future.
Help in anyway you can, personally, corporately or from any business big or small. The Schubert Centre is worth saving for now and our future generations.
Please help me, help the Schubert Centre. Together we can make a difference. Every donation will help make an impact.
