Evicted by Condemnation: Help the Sawyer Family Relocate Before Thanksgiving!
Facing Homelessness by November 30th Due to Landlord's Illegal Refusal
Our Story
We are reaching out on behalf of the Sawyer family—Lacie (23), Ethan (23), and their two young children, Theo (2 years) and Lia (10 months)—who are facing an urgent crisis in Des Moines, WA. They must completely vacate their condemned home by November 30th and have been left with absolutely zero financial support from their landlord.
The family moved in happily this past July with plans for a long stay. Their lives were upended two weeks ago when the house was officially condemned by the city.
The Injustice: Condemnation is Not Their Fault
The home was condemned due to the landlord's proven negligence—he completed major renovations without necessary permits or inspections. This displacement is through no fault of the Sawyers, yet they are the ones facing the devastating consequences.
Landlord Named: The landlord, Quan Huynh, continues to ignore authorities and deny any responsibility for the unsafe property.
Legal Action Ignored: The Sawyers have served Mr. Huynh with formal legal notices requesting relocation funds as required under RCW 59.18.085.
Zero Financial Support: Despite state law requiring it, Quan Huynh has provided zero dollars in relocation assistance.
The Deadline is Now
With the November 30th move-out date looming, and the power scheduled to be shut off imminently due to the landlord's uncooperation, the family is running out of time. They have their supportive local family but are completely blocked financially from securing new housing.
The landlord's refusal to provide legally owed funds means the Sawyers cannot pay for:
Security Deposit: Required to move in
First Month's Rent: Required to move in
Moving Costs: To safely transport belongings
How Your Donation Helps
Every dollar raised will go directly toward these immediate, life-saving expenses to get Theo and Lia into a safe, warm home before the holiday season.
Our Goal is to raise $25,000 to cover these essential costs.
I. Immediate Housing - $10,000
To cover security deposit, first/last month's rent, and essential moving costs to secure a safe home before the November 30th deadline.
II. Legal Action - $15,000
To secure an attorney retainer and cover initial legal fees to sue Quan Huynh and recover the illegally withheld funds and damages under RCW 59.18.085.
TOTAL URGENT GOAL $25,000 To prevent homelessness and secure legal justice.
The Sawyer family is fighting against a landlord who is blatantly violating state law. We are racing against the calendar and need to raise these funds urgently to prevent Theo and Lia from becoming homeless during the cold holiday season.
Your donation does two things: it puts a roof over their heads now, and it helps them fight for the justice they are owed.
Please donate today and share this campaign widely! Thank you for standing with the Sawyer family.
All funds will be managed by Lacie Sawyer and directly disbursed for moving costs, deposits, and legal fees.
Please help us fight this injustice and ensure the Sawyer family does not become homeless just days before Thanksgiving. Thank you for opening your heart to this young family in crisis.
