Help Orion Gardner fight Lyme Disease induced Parkinson’s.
Growing up in San Clemente and Dana Point, so many young people have been moved or changed by teaching and mentorship of Orion Gardner aka “Mr. Gardner”. Teaching not only as his full-time profession, but coaching and directing surf lessons during the school year as well as the summer months. 5 years ago Orion started having daily health issues, mobility: walking, speech and other aggressive impairment to daily life activities. Countless doctor visits, numerous specialist and a positive test for Lyme in 2016, it was determined that the overreaching symptoms were showing as Parkinsonian symptoms, thus Orion was given diagnosis of having Parkinson’s. The next step ended up with two brain surgery’s, electrode implants, “Deep Brain Stimulators” (to stimulate the brain to give an output of dopamine to command his muscles, to allow him to move). This all resulted in a loss of time at work and quality of life. As Orion was in the final stages of recovery from his second brain surgery in 2018 he found comfort in meeting up with his best-friends down at T-Street. On a windy December day, he caught the eye of smiling, friendly blonde girl. They sparked a conversation and as they say “the rest is history!” Orion is now married with a almost 5 month old daughter. He is need of additional treatment to once and for all, get this Lyme disease into remission! Allowing the Parkinsonian symptoms to diminish giving him the needed mobility to go back to teaching, swimming, surfing, running, and most importantly playing with his daughter (which is all he wants to be able to do). We want Orion to have a healthy, successful life that he deserves. Orion has been very apprehensive to ask for or request help. Orion’s friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help with final expenses in order to obtain needed treatment and payment of medical bills not covered by insurance. Our only wish is to enlist the help of friends to come together to show support in anyway they can to help with this wonderful giving young man. There will be a fundraiser at Surfing Heritage & Culture Center (SHACC) on February 22, 2020 6:00- 9:00pm. Thank you for your support and prayers!
Love,
