The Karaoke Kid is a cozy little bar on University that has served as a late night stop for Madisonians for over two decades. Yet, with heavy hearts this week, we began the process of closing our doors permanently.
Three months of shutdown following the Covid pandemic, curfew, and capacity rules have left our little bar struggling to meet its financial obligations. For this reason, as a last resort, we are asking your help.
Our goal is $15,000, which should, along with our recent earnings, just cover our lost operating expenses for the last 3 months. Anything above that amount will go toward the organizing efforts of Urban Triage (https://urbantriage.org/) and to the support of future students in and graduates of the Odyssey Project, a very worthy educational program that attempts to break the poverty cycle by giving under-served, low-income communities the opportunity go to college and get more fulfilling jobs (https://odyssey.wisc.edu/).
All donations of at least $40+ will preorder you an "I Saved the Real KK" t-shirt.
All donations of $100+ or will earn you an "I REALLY Saved the Real KK" t-shirt.
Incredibly generous donors will have custom shirts run with their names printed in place of I.
