Save the Pregnancy Resource Clinic!

When a woman holds a positive pregnancy test in her hands, the swirl of emotions that follows can be like a tornado.

Maybe she is a young girl of 13, still in middle school, unable to imagine being a mother.  She might be a homeless woman in her mid-thirties, struggling to care for the children she already has and get her own life in order.  Or perhaps she is the victim of a rape, trying to come to terms with the horror of the crime against her and now facing a positive pregnancy test.

We are the Pregnancy Resource Clinic.  We are a team dedicated to caring for women in crisis, providing hope, truth and options.

Since our founding in 2013, we have had the opportunity to serve over 800 women throughout the Greater Phoenix area.  The PRC provides free services to women facing challenging or unplanned pregnancies.  These services include lab-grade pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, limited STD testing,  options consultations, prenatal classes, material aid and community referrals.

After four years of seeing lives touched and changed, we face the possibility of having to close our doors.  That is why we must meet this funding goal of $200,000.  It will allow us to continue to provide free, life-giving, loving care for another year. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference.  For example, a gift of just $25 provides an ultrasound to a woman facing a crisis pregnancy or considering abortion.

Over 70% of the women who visit us are considering or planning an abortion. We meet these women at their point of need by showing them love and care, providing a safe place for them to process their situation and telling them the truth about each of their options.  Through the gift of a free ultrasound, we are able to determine the viability and gestational age of their pregnancy and give them the opportunity to see and connect with their unborn baby before they make their choice.

Through our unique approach to internet marketing, we are able to serve women who feel abortion is their only option. For example, when a woman conducts a pregnancy or abortion-related search on the internet, our link is there. Those who visit our website can ask questions, schedule an appointment or  connect with us via live chat or our 24/7 texting number.

A women often walks into our clinic feeling worthless, unloved, confused or hopeless.  We make it our goal to show her she is valued, point out her strengths, and offer the no-strings-attached love that she may never have experienced.  We hope she chooses life.  We know this is best for her and for the baby inside her.  But whatever her choice, we love her, respect her, and walk alongside her.

Our clinic is overseen by a respected OBGYN doctor in the Phoenix area.  Volunteer nurses, a nurse practitioner and a sonographer oversee our day-to-day medical services while our client advocates sit with each woman to guide her through her options. The women who work and volunteer at the PRC have a heart for women in crisis.  Many have their own crisis pregnancy and abortion stories that give them empathy for the women they serve and inspire their commitment to the cause.

Women who visit the PRC range in age from 13 to 45.  We are the only clinic of our kind in the North Phoenix area, but women come to us from all over Phoenix, Glendale, Scottsdale, Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, Chandler, northern Arizona, and sometimes even further.

Here are some of their stories…

Chanda* was a high-school senior from Kenya.  When she found out she was pregnant, she was terrified of telling her parents.  She knew she had to take care of her problem by having an abortion. When she called and made an appointment at the PRC, she felt a ray of hope.  She came and was educated about abortion, adoption and parenting.  Instead of judgment, she received love, care and understanding. After giving it much thought and armed with the knowledge and resources she had received, Chanda chose to give life to her baby and moved into a maternity home for the remainder of her pregnancy.

Diana* was in her mid-thirties, divorced and the mother of grown children. She was looking forward to “me” time. She had a great job, her own home and a new man in her life. When she got a positive pregnancy test result, she was stunned. All of her plans and dreams started slipping away.  When she arrived at the PRC, she was confused, upset and angry at herself. There was “no way” she was going to be a mother again. After sharing her situation and discussing her options with her advocate, Diana came to terms with the fact that she was already the mother of her pre-born child. She felt a sense of peace, recognizing that she could not choose death. The courage to have this baby shocked her…but this shock was nothing to the shock and joy she experienced watching her twins appear on the ultrasound!

When Eloisa* found out she was pregnant, her worst fears had come true. This pregnancy, a result of a date rape drug slipped into her drink during a weekend parties in Mexico, was now real. She was devastated, crumbling under the weight of the shame and embarrassment she felt.  She was already a single mom of three and the sole caregiver for her ailing mother.  How could she tell them?  She wouldn’t.  She would just make it go away. When Eloisa left the PRC that day, she was still filled with hopelessness and despair. A few weeks later, with no appointment, she walked in to the clinic.  She came in person to thank us for helping her find clarity…and for helping her desperation turn to hope.  Her news: She was placing her baby for adoption.

Knowing she was pregnant, Tiffany* came to the PRC for information on abortion procedures and associated risks as well as an ultrasound to make sure she wasn’t miscarrying.  As an RN with a great career ahead of her, she had no room for a baby in her life.  Her boyfriend didn’t want to be a father.  They were both on the same page.  She didn’t look at the ultrasound.  Tiffany went forward with an abortion.  The next day, the only thing she remembered was her PRC advocate saying, “No matter what, we are here for you if you need us…24/7.”  She called and asked for post-abortion help.  After 10 weekly meetings, she hugged her advocate and said: “You may have just saved my life.”
