Hi, my name is Victoria Rue, and I am fundraising to help The Palestinian National Theatre in Jerusalem with life saving funds! Will you help me do this? We have a window to make this happen: 10/14/22--10/30/22---EXTENDED TO NOV. 10!

The Palestinian National Theatre was founded in 1984 by El-Hakawati (the storyteller), one of the most influential theatre groups in the contemporary history of Palestinian theatre. For nearly four decades, it has been the leading performing arts and cultural center for Palestinians in Jerusalem. Today, it is facing immense financial challenges. In addition to three years of pandemic-related challenges that affected theatres across the globe, this Jerusalemite theatre has historically been under political scrutiny as it served the predominantly Arab population of East Jerusalem. Despite immense challenges, The Palestinian National Theatre / El-Hakawati is a world-renowned theatre, receiving international acclaim for its touring productions in the United States, Germany, Britain, and France.

El-Hakawati is continuing to run with the efforts and volunteerism of its employees and various theatre groups in the Jerusalem area. They have insisted to produce their children’s festival this year in spite of the lack of grants. In an interview for this independent fundraising campaign, managing director Amer Khalil explained, “we need 20K USD in a short period in order to fulfill our obligations.” El-Hakawati needs this small sum to cover upcoming expenses:

1, Artist fees for its upcoming Children’s Festival.

2. Employee insurance-related bills.

3. Upcoming safety inspections (fire alarms, entrances/exits, accessibility).

4. Utilities.

Please pledge any sum you can afford between Oct. 14 and Oct. 30-- however small it may be-- to fund the upcoming Children's Festival and to support this remarkable theatre in Jerusalem.
