COVID-19 has been an unexpected blow to the world-wide entertainment industry. From the artists themselves who are out of a gig, to the venues that support their acts, to the vendors that supply consumables and merchandise, to the attendees that gather to make it all happen; all are affected. Almost every industry, aside, is experiencing the same difficulties.
The Oven is a multi-media production space committed to the artists we love and believe in. Tailored to founders David Click and Phil Kegley’s collective experience, we have put our lives all-in and up-front to support the scenes and artists’ needs since 2016.
We appreciate the bands we record, the artists we feature and promote, and most importantly, the patrons and primary support of those artists and scenes. They really make us who we are and ultimately define our existence.
Through all of this, we have had no income since before what would have been SXSW20. While we are struggling to stay on top of just rent and expenses, we are afraid we will fall behind on some of our commitments to ourselves as well as to our space, tenants, and supporters.
Our goals for this year included installing two ductless air conditioning units for our event space, production spaces, and rehearsal rooms. We would like to expand our equipment arsenal forever-long to keep capturing and outputting all of the talent that walks through our doors. Of course, we love to keep the paint fresh, maintain our facility, and keep the staff we have secured. They have also committed to great lengths on our behalf.
Thank you all for your time and support. Thank you for sharing what we do. If you can contribute to the cause, please know it means the world to us! Even sharing our fundraiser and live streaming events can go a long way.
Peace, love, and rock ‘n’ roll (or techno, jazz, hip hop, songwriting, filmmaking, all your jams)!
