Please help the staff of the new Umberto’s

As most Pompano residents know by now, Sergio, Luisa and I took over Umberto’s seven months ago. Thank you all for your support during these past months. You made us feel welcomed and appreciated and it was a pleasure having you dine with us, dance with us and share a pizza with us.
Now all our lives have been turned upside down. We are all in this together, and we’ll get through this together. Our Umberto’s family has been affected so harshly, and we have our bartender, Natasha waiting on a baby in April, and Sergio and Luisa just had their baby boy, Jeremy in February. Lela is almost a nurse, and now her school is closed, and she’s not able to serve you for the bulk of her salary. The other waiters and the kitchen staff are hurting as well. The entertainers who are our regulars and some of the newcomers that were looking forward to entertaining you, are having the same problems - no gigs, no audiences. It’s so sad. All our staff is hurting, as this pandemic keeps spreading here in Florida. It’s a serious situation for everyone, but Sergio has been working hard to keep deliveries and takeout going, but now, even that has been slowing. He’s been trying to keep as many employees working as possible, and I’ve been sharing my savings with as many people as I can help, but it’s never enough.
If you are in the position to help our staff get through this pandemic, it would be most appreciated. I will pass on any donations that are made here to our staff, it may be just enough for groceries but it will be something.
I hope that all that are reading this are safe and healthy, and if you’re feeling helpless, lonely and down about all this, do something positive - help if you can.
Praying that this nightmare ends sooner than later, and we can all be in each other’s company shortly.
