Save the Mountain!!
Through a long process of establishing rightful memberships, reduced income sources, and more recent ongoing legal entanglements, the El Salto del Agua Association’s funds have been depleted to the point of impending insolvency. If we cannot save the mountain from the debt incurred in legalities there is a future risk lien and a future possibility of it being sold to developers.
For the past 77 years the land has been preserved by the membership. Through the decades hiking fees and selling Elk Permits have contributed to running the association. Through local NON Profit agencies the mountain has benefited from Grant monies to help fire prevention, and watershed sustainability. THE ASSOCIATION HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY COMMENDED FOR ITS RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP. The property was acquired by virtue of a tax deed. In 1946 a local resident by the name of Miguel Martinez living in El Salto went from home to home to gather funds from local families in the surrounding communities of Arroyo Seco. The funds gathered from the local residents went to pay for 12 years of unpaid taxes. Thus the association was GRANTED to the first 68 original members who contributed their hard earned money to taxes.
In 1949 the commission of the association's purpose was to be a united body who promoted A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND RESPECT FOR ALL MEMBERS. For decades members of the association used the land for AGRICULTURE, HUNTING, FISHING AND WOOD GATHERING. Locals, and Visitors from around the World and Country have experienced PEACE and SOLACE that comes with HIKING the mountain. On the behalf of the El Salto del Agua Association PLEASE help us SAVE and PRESERVE our beautiful Mountain. Donations are greatly appreciated.
