Save the lives of streetanimals in Baghdad
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Verena Glaser and I was recently volunteering in an animalshelter in Al-Krayyat, Baghdad. This animal shelter is run by Maithaq Mahmoud Hazema. He started caring for the streetanimals in 2012 at the age of 19.
His primary objective is to educate people by raising awareness of the needs of animals and to stop violence against them by social media campaigns.
Specifically, his activities focus on rescuing abused animals and providing them health care and shelter in a sanctuary for cats and a sanctuary for dogs. So far, Maithaq has rescued more than a thousand cases. Actually, he cares for 140 dogs and 130 cats.
He is fundraising for the animal’s urgent needs as well as the long-term goal of creating a better and more spacious shelter for them as he is actually trying to get provided some land by the Iraquean Government.
Every donation matters as with 2,30 € you can provide shelter, food, health and hygienical care for one animal for one day, all of which are crucial for the animal's welfare. With a monthly donation of 70 € you fully support an animal throughout the year.
Here is a detailed monthly cost overview:
Food: €13,780
Veterinarian: €2,600
Cat litter: €730
Staff: €730
Transport: €370
Rent: €500
Total: €18,710
Donations are the most direct and active way for you to assist this cause, but if you are unable to do that Maithaq would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word. Sharing, liking and following this post and Maithaqs social media pages will help popularise his work and its purpose and reach a broader audience and more people that would like to help.
