Save The Lives of 400 LGBTQ Refugees From Persecution

9 days to save 400 LGBTQ+ Refugees.

Ashley Phil (she/her/they/them) is a trans refugee and leader at Gorom Refugee Camp in East Africa— and her life is imminent danger.

After escaping death for her identity in her home country of Uganda, she continues to risk everything to advocate for the lives of fellow LGBTQ+ refugees. Due to her pursuit to raise awareness for her community, her life is being threatened, along with the safety of every human at Gorom Refugee camp.

On May 14th, Ashley was told by government officials that her camp of over 400+ queer men, women, and children had been marked for "removal" - and that they must vacate within 10 days or be violently and forceful removed. At gun point.

On May 17th, a representative of the camp was able to secure temporary safe haven in a neighboring country, so long as they can fund their travel. That same day, Ashley met with government officials and the UNHCR headquarters to ask for time to raise funds to move her community. The government gave a 3 day extension— and threats to her life.

As of May 18th, Ashley is hidden and we have just NINE DAYS to raise enough to save all 400 LGBTQ+ refugees at Gorom Refugee Camp.

This matter is URGENT

Being LGBTQ+ is illegal in their region, tensions are high amid civil war, and due to the governments unwillingness to assist them, they have been left with almost nowhere to go. Without means of escape, all refugees will be deserted, many will be imprisoned, and some even killed.

Ashley is the most selfless and compassionate person I've ever met, and she will NOT leave until she knows every last member of community is safe. Please don't let them erase her.

Due to international restrictions, all funds donated to this campaign will be withdrawn by the organizer and transferred directly to the beneficiary, Ashley, via Sendwave. The funds will be spent to cover the travel expenses of the 400 refugees at Gorom Refugee Camp to ensure safe passage to a neighboring country before facing persecution in mere days.
