SAVE The Libby Museum of Natural History
Help save the oldest (and only) natural history museum in New Hampshire, The Libby!
Now 109 years old, the Museum is a listed national historic building overlooking beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. We have welcomed visitors every summer since 1912, but our rare collection is being ruined by lack of heat and insulation.
The Libby Museum uniquely displays its artifacts in the style of the 1800s; under antique glass, in "wonder cabinets" and even open to touch. Our 3000 artifacts include North American and New England birds and mammals, and shadow boxes of original flora and fauna collected by founder Dr. Henry F. Libby. He was a local resident, dedicated naturalist, and dentist.
We hope to fully restore this Museum so we can also accept two additional collections of rare animals and birds on offer from local collectors. Please help save this Museum for future generations.
Visitors are welcome from June through Columbus Day. Children under 16 and veterans are free; adult entry is just $5.
We keep it affordable, just as Dr. Libby would have wished.
More details, including about our restoration plans, is on: www.thelibbymuseum.org
