The Knights of Columbus Mattapoisett is closing its doors forever…. Unless……
Prior to the covid shut down the Knights of Columbus members were desperately looking to repair our roof and entrance. The roof is literally falling off and there are other urgent and necessary repairs needed. With plans for new and exciting events, such as our fall festival last year, we were hoping to raise enough money over time to make the necessary repairs. With the Covid shutdown, we have had no income, which is sure to continue, but of course the bills remain leaving us with very little funds to make it through the winter. Our Bar is closed but the bill for our liquor license is due.
Our members have raised countless money to help local families in need as well as support the needs of the five parish’s we serve. We have volunteered hundreds of hours at local food pantries, purchased hundreds of “coats for kids”, donated wheelchairs to churches, supported seminarians, and through our ever popular Teen Dances raised $36,000 in Scholarships for High School seniors. We have hosted countless birthday, anniversary, weddings and showers for families wishing to celebrate but looking for pricing alternatives to hotel ballroom pricing. Recently we won an award from the Red Cross for blood donations during Covid. Due to our financial struggles we’ve had to eliminate some favorite activities such as breakfast with Santa, an annual member’s Christmas gathering, and reduced our clambakes from 2 per year to one annual event. Our current financial situation means we will soon be canceling all activities and selling the building, unless the communities we serve lead us to a different future!
What can you do? First and foremost, JOIN US! We are looking for Catholic men to become members and join our wives and significant others in support of our mission of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Pray for us. We believe and need God’s intervention more than ever to overcome our challenges. Support us financially through this Go Fund Me process! This has become such a priority that in the coming months, if we can’t improve our financial situation we will need to sell our building making our wonderful events like clambakes and teen dances a distant memory.
We appreciate your support as we strive to continue raising money so we can give it away…. As soon as we are allowed to open our doors!
