We are the Kinsey family. We are a loving interracial and trans family of five currently facing one of the hardest seasons of our lives.

After dedicating 24 years to my job, I was unexpectedly laid off in March 2023. Just months later, I received a life changing diagnosis: prostate cancer.

What followed was a long and painful journey.

Surgery led to serious complications. Instead of a six week recovery, I endured multiple hospitalizations, ongoing treatments, and months of healing. There were weeks where I couldn’t live a normal life without wearing a drainage bag, attending constant hospital visits, and fighting just to regain strength.

Through it all, my spouse, who is disabled, and our three children have been my rock. They’ve carried our family through every setback with love and resilience.

But the financial impact has been overwhelming.

The combination of job loss and mounting medical bills has completely drained our savings. Despite doing everything I can to find work, we’ve fallen behind on our home equity line of credit.

We are now at risk of losing our home if we cannot catch up by April 30, 2026.
