Dear friends,
I believe that children are a trust to us. They come into this world of ours empty-handed, full of life. In return we should give them all the best tools and tips to travel through their lives. I have been consistently dedicated to this cause for almost 20 years now. I began my career with the NYC Board of Education in 1997 at the age of 18 and I have not looked back since. From then to now I have been consistently in service to the children of the US (and world) as a schoolteacher, child care therapy aide, mentor and athletics coach, normally pulling from my own resources. This newest project for which I am raising funds is geared to have you all help in what is becoming a global threat to children - and this time I am based in the right place. I have been working for the past six years as a schoolteacher in Lackawanna, NY for the Muslim community. I have always championed showing children all the positive outlets to experience life, and in this city that has twice now been publicized as producing potential terrorists, that cause needs assistance. I have developed since 2013 the Western NY Youth Muslim Basketball League. The goal is simple: give children a fun, positive, healthy alternative to unhealthy practices. With funding from you we can hold large range camps, reach larger audiences and allow more youth to take advantage of the opportunity to live out their dreams of seeing their favorite sport stars take to the hardwood like we did this past spring thanks to the kind assistance of Cleveland Cavaliers and their owner Dan Gilbert. At present me and my staff work on a volunteer basis happily servicing children but with limited donated equipment (thank you Wal-Mart and the University at Buffalo), we would like that to change. Whatever you give, the return will come back to you - guaranteed. Help us keep or communities safe, fun and healthy. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Shaheed Ali
