The Justin Community Food Pantry, a volunteer-run organization, may have to shut down due to new requirements of the City of Justin. For the last five years, The Justin Community Food Pantry has provided food and meals to nearly 100 local families each month, as well as Thanksgiving and Christmas meals each year, and snack packs for children during the summer.
According to city officials, the Justin Community Food Pantry is now required to have a Special Use Permit to continue their work of distributing food to needy families in their current location. The application alone for this new requirement will cost more than $1,000.
Justin City Council members must vote to approve the new Special Use Permit -- otherwise the Justin Community Food Pantry will be shut down in its current location. Without approval of the Special Use Permit, the City of Justin is cutting off an essential resource to people who need it most in your community.
