Save the Injured Cat from Fletcher Papermill
I volunteer with NEMTNR and am always on the lookout for any strays. At about 10:15 Friday night, I was happy to see I trapped the cat from the old papermill. He is now safe in a kennel with food and water and was given flea treatment; he seems to be happy and content.
5/10/25 He is safe at Elk Country Animal Shelter and we named him Buster Bob
His Story:I found out he was abandoned about 4 years ago and has been living in the Fletcher papermill since, while also visiting someone who cared enough to give him food and water. The past year I have been watching him in passing, never let me get too close but close enough to see he was okay. He was also with a female cat and they had a litter of 6 kittens. I tried to rescue them before anything happened, but I was threatened by the property owner to stay off the property. Due to lack of sighting in the past several months, I believe 5 kittens died and the mom passed away in the papermill. When I saw Buster yesterday and the way he looked, I knew I had to do something or he wouldn't make it either. So I dedicated the next 29 hours on trapping him and at 10:15pm on 5/9/25, I was finally successful. Due to some amazing people, I had a plan on how to care for him
Now, with your kind donations, he will be getting treatment and once better, will be on his way to find a forever home❤️
I will keep this updated on his recovery. GoFundMe recommended the amount to fundraise; depending on his condition, any additional funds will go right back to medical costs for stray/abandoned cats. Feel free to call the Elk Country Animal Shelter at [phone redacted] and make a donation over the phone; The staff are very busy, please leave a message about why you're calling and they will call you back as soon as they are able.
