Save The Hoke House: Support our Veterans & Preserve History
Tax deductible
In a combined effort with Just For Today Recovery Service (JFT) and The Hoke House Relocation Committee, the 270+ year old Hoke House, located in Spring Grove PA, will be saved from demolition and relocated to be used in the future as a place for veterans to seek help and counseling, as well as, a place for the community to come and be educated on local history.
JFT plans to relocate the Hoke House to nearby land, restore the house to original facade, and use the house and donated land to offer agricultural therapeutic services to veterans in a farming atmosphere. In addition to the agricultural therapy, PTSD counseling and groups will also be offered. JFT plans to expand the agricultural therapy to include a farmers market stand.
The Hoke House when relocated and restored would also be open to the community as a place to come together and learn about the history of the Hoke House, which dates back to circa 1750. The Hoke House was the first business in the area when it opened as a tavern and it played a role in the founding of Spring Grove, as well as, the Civil War. The Hoke House originally served as a gathering place and it will once again serve that purpose when relocated.
Without the funds to relocate the Hoke House, it will be demolished and an important piece of history will be lost. This project is not just about saving a piece of history. It's about using that history to help our community and our veterans, who sacrificed so much for us. Let's come together and do our part to value our history and give back to our veterans.
