Save the Historical Sailing Vessel Traveler

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

The Traveler was the dream of a man named Art Crimmins. He began designing her while serving in the Coast Guard during WWII. He chose to have her hull built in Man-O-War Cay, Bahamas, by William H. Albury and his men.

 

She was born in the Islands and finished in the States. As the first charter vessel licensed to cross the Gulfstream from Miami. She crossed the Stream countless times and has many stories to tell. She's a vessel with a rich history and right now, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

 

While Traveler has been well maintained over the years, a 76 year old boat is bound to need some TLC. She is presently tied up at the dock in Oriental, NC and is being worked on by volunteers to make her seaworthy. The immediate need is to raise funds to get this beautiful and historic vessel back home to Man-O-War Cay. 

 

It is our goal that, once in Man-O-War, restoration can continue and she can be used to teach the younger generations about both their boatbuilding history and sailing!

For your contribution of $1000 (or equivalent amount of materials/equipment or five (5) days volunteer work/labor) you are eligible to receive a day sail aboard Traveler.

For your contribution of $300 towards Traveler we would like to send you a copy of the TRAVELER book (limited availability) written by Peggy Crimmins under a pen name.  The book is a treasury of early Miami and Bahamian history during the years Capt. Art Crimmins built and chartered the Traveler.
