Save the Front Line Providers - Anti-Aerosol Box

Hello Everyone,

My name is Brian Kelly and I work as an anesthesiologist at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.  

I’ve never done anything like this done before so here goes...

Our hospital is doing everything we can to provide the best possible care to our patients and your loved ones during this pandemic. We are also taking every measure possible to  keep our fellow healthcare providers safe and healthy. We want to continue serving our community during this difficult time.

As providers on the front line, there are specific points in time during the care of our patients when we have no choice but to face significant exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Aerosolizing procedures such as intubation, bronchoscopy, mask ventilation, extubation, etc are some specific examples.  

Although we are meticulous in putting on our PPE to protect ourselves and taking it off in a standardized fashion to avoid contamination, myself and many others believe that additional measures such as this anti-aerosolization box could be very helpful and potentially prevent our our frontline providers from contracting the virus and maybe even help to conserve the PPE we have. 

You may have seen something similar to this device in the news or on social media recently called "the intubation box". With the help of some wonderful people at REZTARK and Geograph industries inc. (and admittedly my own mom, aunt, and her crafty friends), we made a few modifications to the original design in an effort to improve the containment of aerosolized viral particles. We are very close to having a final product design. Hopefully we can make these boxes for our hospital, our neighboring hospitals, and any other hospitals that might want them!

If you are able to help, we would love your financial support and will accept any donation towards the manufacturing and production of our modified design.  Our goal is to keep not only our providers at The Christ Hospital safe, but to also keep our colleagues and friends at other hospitals safe so we can continue to fight on against this virus. 2. Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for:

The Funds will go directly to the manufacturer who is making these boxes to help cover the cost of their supplies and materials to make these boxes. The boxes will then be given to physicians at The Christ Hospital and any other hospitals that would like them.

Currently, the manufacturer is Geographic INC. The Architects from RATZERK, Christie and Brett Kratzer, are friends of our family and put me in contact with the manufacturer. 

3. How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible):

The funds will be spent covering the cost of supplies and material for creating the boxes. (Clear acrylic, rubber gaskets, gloves, large rubber bands, screws, metal clamps, clear plastic drape, adjustable elastic bands, viral filters).

4. Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary/ies:

The goal is to get these donations directly to the manufacturers so they can order supplies and materials. I will direct all funds from this gofund me account directly to the manufacturers making the boxes.
