Save the Flurry Festival

The Flurry Festival, which takes place over Presidents Weekend and is one of the largest traditional dance and music festivals in North America,(https://www.flurryfestival.org) has been primarily attendee supported for 35 years. In 2021, we held the virtual Dancing in the Cloud, because we couldn't safely gather in person. Then in 2022, Omicron forced us to cancel in late fall. When we finally brought the Flurry Festival back in person on Feb 17th-19th, 2023, it was a cause for celebration and brought joy to many! Prior to the pandemic, the Flurry Festival brought nearly 5,000 dancers, volunteers and performers to Saratoga Springs, NY over the festival weekend. This year's Flurry, however, attracted only 1,087 ticket purchasers, far below the 1,650 we had cautiously budgeted for.

While we had planned to split overhead and other fixed costs between the February festival and a June "Spring Bloom" event, the low February turnout has now forced us to cancel the June festival and focus on saving the Flurry itself.

We need to raise $100,000 so we can hold the 2024 Flurry Festival.

We need to raise funds quickly to secure our venues, or the Flurry as we know it cannot continue.

Between the unexpected $60,000 loss of ticket income at the February festival and the additional $40,000 in administrative pay and venue deposits which had been expected to be recouped by Spring Bloom, the Flurry’s losses in 2023 approximate $100,000. Without your support in raising this amount, our path forward remains unclear.
