Save the Epsilon Beta House: Kitchen & Roof repairs

Hi, this is Dave Thiery, EB340.

I am leading this alumni fundraising effort to help pay for necessary repairs to the old EB house. I lived in the house in the late '80s and early '90s. It is my hope that new generations of engineering students can enjoy the house as much as we did when we were in collge.

At the present time, the house is in serious disrepair. This effort is intended to remodel the kitchen and repair the leaky roof. In order to meet inspection requirements and maintain a student presence in the house, this effort is a requirement. Note: a full roof replacement will come later.

I’m reaching out on behalf of the alumni of the former EB chapter to preserve the house and legacy that meant so much to all of us.

With the suspension of the EB charter from national and the loss of our insurance, we uncovered over $100,000 in critical repairs needed for our historic Victorian mansion. Our first step is a $45,000 kitchen renovation and roof repair — essential for both safety and recruiting new student tenants to keep the house alive. Note: We do have new insurance now.

p.s. In case you were wondering, the former active members and alumni have reorganized as “Wayne Engineering Society” which was the organization’s original name many years ago. So, the legacy lives on.
