Hi, as the owner of Sweetwater Creations Studio where Making Ideas Art is what we are about, I am grateful to share my passion for the store and communities we serve with you as I ask for help to keep this business open.

My name is Lisa Schnell and, although I purchased this business a year ago, August 1, 2019, the history of Sweetwater Creations Studio started in 2017 under previous owners as Modern Makers.  When they purchased a small, local business to increase artistic opportunities, the name was changed to Sweetwater Creations Studio.  It is a place for creative fun, arts and crafts supplies, in-store events, participation in outside community events, parties, art projects, sewing, wood projects, classes, workshops, mosaics, etc.  Recently, pottery making and pouring our own ceramics from molds was added.  Our passion is to inspire and encourage creativity for all ages (those that can hold a paint brush ) so our customers (we like to call them friends) can enjoy Making Ideas Art.

All photos in this story are of our customers (friends) and/or art completed while in the store.

Prior to ownership I looked forward to going to the store for wood burning workshops, fun Saturday events, paint pouring on canvas and just simply dropping in and enjoying the variety of projects to choose from.  I think my favorite art project to date is wood burning.  I like the smell, the unique outcomes and relaxing benefits.

Sweetwater Creations Studio is a small business where family and friends can gather in a safe, fun, hospitable place to learn new and increase creative skills, talents and more which is medically proven to help with brain function.  Like the previous owners, I am passionate to see the store stay open as I believe it offers a vital need and expanding opportunities to the communities we serve, as well as, employment for residents. It was truly a leap of faith to take on the responsibilities and challenges of working toward success at all levels.  The uphill climb has not been easy but definitely worth it when seeing the smiles and creative masterpieces of our customers.

Unfortunately, the COVID -19 pandemic has caused a drastic reduction in revenue for all businesses!  As counter measures the store hours were shortened to reduce wage cost.  We came up with packaged projects to take home and online classes to help generate revenue however it has not provided enough at this time causing delayed payments, challenges paying employees and keeping the doors open.

The funding goal is simply to catch up, keep the store open and move forward as a place to put individual or collaborative talents together and make something tangible to enjoy and gift giving occasions.  We want to continue to offer events where dads come in and paint with their daughters, moms bring their sons to bang nails into a board for string art, grandparents bring their grandchildren for those special memories and more.

Sweetwater Creations Studio is asking for your help to keep this creative outlet!  With your financial support, we will catch up on expenses and move forward with the vision to offer additional classes, especially for home schooling families and after school functions, special youth events, a showcase area in the store where local artists can display their work and sell on consignment, new signs, additional storage to make room for more inventory, more pottery wheels, more community events and collaboration with other local businesses, an increase of creative, fun employment opportunities to support our communities and so much more.

Thank you in advance for your donations to keep another small business open in Green River, a diverse community, located in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, where the residents and visitors enjoy the adventures of the great outdoors including river fun (“fish it, float it, live it”) on the Green River that flows through the town.  The hills, bluffs, rock formations known as Castle rock, wild horses running free nearby, deer grazing in our yards and more all serve as inspiration for the artistic talents of all.  Let us continue to be a place where the adventurous spirit flows indoors, too, in a creative, inspiring atmosphere.  With utmost gratitude, thank you for being a part of Making Ideas Art.  And, if you are in the neighborhood, come and create with us!
