Hello friends, family and fellow community. My name is Angela Faustino. I am the owner of Penngrove Hub. Penngrove Hub is a community based thrift store in downtown Penngrove. We hosts community workshops that helps raise funds for our Sonoma County nonprofits organizations. Instead of being a nonprofit ourselves, supporting one cause, We help out other nonprofits when it matters the most ❤️

This month we are dedicating our time and efforts to raise money for The Petaluma Sea Scouts. For those who don’t know, without going into the whole backstory on how this amazing organization started,

The Petaluma Sea Scouts are a group of 25 kids that volunteer countless hours throughout our community making Sonoma County shine ✨ The Petaluma Sea Scouts participate in so many community events all year long. To name a few… The scouts help run Wreaths Around America, placing wreaths on War Veterans graves. This week the Scouts are volunteering over 50 hours in the next four days at Sonoma County Fairgrounds, parking cars to raise money for their future events. Usually the Sonoma County Fairground is their biggest fundraiser to help fund their whole year of expenses however, this year it is not going to cut it.

The Sea Scouts train on a 65 foot retired Navy vessel “The Compass Rose”. This ship is not only their ride but a training center for all of kids. A classroom on water. Every scout has duties on this boat to keep it afloat. They navigate it, they clean it, they sleep on it, they are all hands on deck! This ship is their second home.

A few weeks ago, rough weather conditions caused huge waves, slamming their ship up against a dock and rag dolling their vessel into an even bigger ship. The damage to the boat will cost thousands. The boat will be out of commission until the repairs are done. The scouts are devastated! Before they are able to return to their vessel they need to pay for the repairs to make it safe and sea worthy once again.
