Save the Bugle!

The Bugle is facing closure, and we need your help! It’s a long one but please give this a read - thank you for your time!

If we’re completely honest, the Bugle hasn’t been the Bugle we love in recent months, and we want to change that! We have a rebrand and new website launch planned, new brains behind our events and a more active social media presence.

Unfortunately, a couple of weeks ago, one of our landlady’s made the decision to leave the business. This decision came as a shock to the whole team, but mostly to her friend and business partner Naomi. Naomi has tried over the previous weeks to keep the Bugle running smoothly as if nothing has happened, unfortunately this cannot be the case. It is slowly coming to light, unbeknownst to Naomi, that the business is in an awful lot of debt, debt which cannot be cleared by just a few busy nights at the bar. The Bugle is facing closure if these debts cannot be cleared. The easy decision would have been for Naomi to shut the doors and walk away, but after many tough, honest conversations, the entire team have decided to make this business work. As horrible as it is to have to admit this publicly, we need to ask for help! Don’t worry, this help is in the form of fun, we would like to invite the whole community to join us for a ‘Save the Bugle’ fundraising weekend. We hope for this to be a really nice, busy community event.

Pubs are so important for the community, and we are so so fortunate to have 5 brilliant ones so close to eachother. I’m sure each and every pub in this village can understand how upsetting this is for us all. This is our jobs on the line here. Someone once told me to treat the pub as your customers living room, and they were absolutely right. For me personally, the Bugle is where I’ve spent the last 3 years of my life, it’s where I’ve spent Christmas, New Years Eve, Easter and Birthdays. It’s where I’ve made some of the best friendships of my life, where I’ve celebrated with my family and where I’ve developed so many skills.

We know the Bugle has a reputation of shutting down and reopening and going through countless different landlords. The last thing we want is to shut the doors!
No matter your thoughts on the Bugle and/or its customers, I think we can all agree that it is a wonderful, interesting, historical centre point to the square that deserves to have its doors open! If you help us save the Bugle, it’s our number one goal to preserve and enhance all of these qualities, and now being run by a Landlady who loves this village, I think we might just do it!

Please join us for our fundraising events:
- Saturday 23rd August: Save The Bugle Day
- Sunday 24th August: Open to all Dart tournament

Anything you can help with is greatly greatly appreciated. From prizes, to donations, to showing up and even just sharing this post!
