Save The Brockley Max Opening Night

The free Opening Night extravaganza on Friday 2 June kicks off the nine-day Brockley Max Festival. Starting at 4pm, Opening Night is an amazing family-friendly street party taking place close to Brockley station and consisting of six hours of live music by some great south London-based musicians. Our stage highlights the incredibly diverse musical talent in the area from local young bands and performers to professional acts such as Athlete and Chainska Brassika, Koder and Yaaba Funk. Brockley Max Opening Night has become a must-see event in Lewisham’s cultural calendar, attracting audiences of all ages, creating lots of appreciation on social media and a huge buzz for the performers. However, for the first time in its 15 year history we have no funding to make Opening Night happen. Please help us change this by pledging your support so we can bring Brockley Max Opening Night to the community.

Brockley Max brings us all together to celebrate why we love living in this amazing, creative part of SE London. Whether people perform or attend, it's a fantastic opportunity to be part of this neighbourhood! It's also a great opportunity to volunteer and this year we're particularly inviting and supporting refugees and migrants to get involved.

When Brockley Max Festival started in 2001 there were only 12 events. Since then, it’s grown to over 70 events with a team of over 50 people working hard to make it happen! Please pledge your support so that we can continue to grow this event for the benefit of the enjoyment of the whole community.

What Brockley Max Opening Night will deliver:

• Host 10 bands and performers

• Showcase local talent

• Entertain an audience of more than 500 people

• Celebrate our diverse community

• Support local bars, restaurants and other businesses with an event on their doorstep

Why it's a great idea:

The Brockley Max Opening Night brings the whole community together to celebrate why we love living in this amazing part of SE London. Some musicians and performers are experienced, while others are young and emerging local talent for whom performing in front of a crowd helps them gain valuable experience, build a local fanbase and collaborate with other performers. As well as being a brilliant event to attend or participate in, Brockley Max Opening Night is a fantastic opportunity for people to volunteer and be part of this neighbourhood!

Steps to get it done:

• Plan the 2023 Opening Night, approach sponsors, put out callout for performers

• Hire equipment and crew

• Organise event publicity and coordinate volunteers

• Confirm all acts

• Host The Opening Night on 2 June from 4pm to 10pm
