Save The Brickwall

To many it may just be a local café, and at the end of the day it might just be that simple mom and pop stop on their way to work. But to the employees of the Brickwall Café it is more than just coffee and sandwiches: it’s a family. When they hear a hot cup of coffee pour or watch latte art form, warmth fills their souls. Here at The Brickwall Cafe we not only greet our customers but we truly SEE them. We laugh, we learn, we comfort and we allow ourselves to engage with them within the Brickwall. You enter as a stranger and you may even leave with a new friend. When I think of my time working at the Brickwall cafe I think of the smiles I get to see and the joyous laughter I hear. I think of the dedication and full hearts that have been poured into the shop day after day for almost a year. When I think of the Café I imagine the warmth of the lights, the passion in the music, the strength of the bricks and the creativity that thrives on every wall as you come in and are greeted with the sweet smell of loving coffee. Please do not let The Brickwall cafes light go out. Recently the city of Hinesville has started construction on commerce street right in front of where we are located, preventing the majority of our business which comes from foot traffic, to come into our store. The city of Hinesville did not tell us they were starting this project until after it was already in motion. They did not let us prepare in any way or form, causing us to lose more than half of our sales over the past month and over the last couple of weeks we’ve began to lose about 80% of our sales. The owner Michaela, wife and a mother of two, has had to pick up another job to in order to prevent the cafe from closing down. There have been many instances where we have lost our very own employees due to the lack of hours because of the increase in construction over the past two weeks. We’re down to just a small few of us who are able to come in and work single full time shifts with no help because of the lack of costumers. We have brought up our complaints and our issues with the construction to the City of Hinesville and no sort of help has been issued. Creating this GoFundMe is our last resort and we have never been the type to ask for help but our little cafe needs the community of Hinesville for than ever and anything helps.
