Our mother Elaine has suffered from the devastating effects of Early Onset Alzheimer’s for the past 10+years. She is 59 years old.
Two years ago, she was no longer able to live at home with her husband, our father John, and was able to be cared for at Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, NY.
A lover of the outdoors, especially the beach, Elaine finds comfort now in being able to enjoy walks outside with John in her chair. While raising their family in the lakeside community of Cliff Haven, one of their favorite past times was to go for walks down to the beach with their children. For us as her children, these walks hold some of our fondest memories.
We were lucky enough to be gifted this beautiful
chair from another family at the nursing home. This year as in years past, our family holds fundraisers to raise money to support the organizations that have helped Elaine receive the best quality of life she can. Having this chair has enabled Elaine to continue to have the best quality of life that we can provide to her, and to continue to take walks with her husband as they so often did.
This year we would like to raise money to give back to the residents of Clinton County Nursing Home to try to provide two chairs, like the one Elaine was fortunate enough to receive, to enable other residents to enjoy the same time with their loved ones as we are able to have. The chairs are a little over $3,000 each and are made of high quality materials to ensure that the patient is comfortable and safe. They are easily maneuverable unlike most chairs built for the similar purpose.
Any donation, no matter how small, always makes the biggest difference. We thank you for taking the time to visit our page and hope that you can help us reach our goal!!
With gratitude,
The children of Elaine Deon
Elizabeth, JT, Claire & Tom
