"Save The Beagles" Public Awarness Campaign & Vigil Event

Hi, I’m Bill Olson, and I’m reaching out today to ask for your support for Beagle Lovers and Rescuers, Inc. as we launch an awareness campaign tied to our upcoming “Stand For Beagles” vigil outside Marshall BioResources, happening May 28 through May 30, 2026.

Marshall BioResources has approximately 26,000 beagles inside its facility at 5800 Lake Bluff Road in North Rose, New York. It is a major commercial breeder and supplier of animals for research, including beagles, cats, ferrets, and mini pigs.

The beagles bred there are shipped to laboratories for experiments, many involving toxicology testing, where animals may be forced to ingest, inhale, or be injected with substances.

These animals are not just inventory. They are living beings who deserve freedom, safety, and a life beyond laboratory cages.

This campaign will fund the rental of two LED billboard trucks for 8 hours, circulating through high traffic, heavily populated areas of Rochester, the closest major city to the facility, located roughly 45 minutes away.

Our goal is to alert the public about the vigil, spark meaningful conversations, and engage directly with the community by answering questions, handing out educational flyers, and distributing 5 inch vinyl stickers. By putting clear, factual information in people’s hands, we empower them to help spread awareness.

After reaching out to several companies, I found one who offered the best value at $1,500 per truck for 8 hours. This is typically about half the normal cost, and the owner was incredibly cooperative and sympathetic to our cause, working with us to ensure everything runs smoothly.

For two trucks at $1,500 each, the subtotal is $3,000. With 8% sales tax, that adds $240, bringing the total campaign cost to $3,240.

It’s also important to understand the bigger picture. About 90 to 96 percent of drugs that appear safe and effective in animal testing, including studies on beagles, fail once they reach human trials. This is often because they do not work the same way in people or cause unexpected side effects. While beagles are commonly used in labs, the reality is these tests often do not translate well to human outcomes.

There are better options. Scientists are already using cruelty free technologies like organoids, which are lab grown human tissues, and organ on a chip systems that mimic real human biology. Advanced computer modeling and AI can also predict how drugs will behave in the human body. These methods are often more accurate and more
humane.

Even the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has begun encouraging a shift away from routine animal testing, especially for certain drug types, in favor of these modern alternatives.

Beagle Lovers and Rescuers, Inc. is committed to raising awareness so the public can help drive change. The goal is to turn awareness into pressure on lawmakers and regulators to modernize policies and reduce reliance on animal testing.

This is our moment to build on the growing national attention surrounding Ridglan Farms, one of the only remaining facilities in the United States breeding beagles specifically for laboratory use, where estimates suggest hundreds to a few thousand dogs are housed. Public awareness is growing, and with it, the opportunity to create real legislative and industry change.

By contributing, you are not just supporting an organization. You are helping give these beagles a chance at a different life. Every dollar matters, and together, we can move this forward.

Thank you for your support.
