Save the Awadallah Family's Lives!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Gloria Baldino, living between Portland, Oregon and San Jose, California. I'm a former high school teacher, IBM & Microsoft employee, now retired and fundraising to save the lives of my friends, the Adawallah family.
I have been communicating with them daily, since March 2023, via messages, audio and video chats. They and their family are in very dire circumstances and need our help to survive.
• 10 adults between 28 and 40 years old
- Mothers & Housewives
- High School English Teacher, Nurse, Police Officer, Pharmacist, Retired Kindergarten Teacher
• 4 elder adults between 60 and 72 years old (retired) (1 disabled in a wheelchair)
• 12 children between 1 and 10 years old – 2-year-old has Epilepsy.
Where did They Live and What have They Lost?
They had homes, cars, professions, and close family ties & family celebrations in Al Rima, a beautiful neighborhood in Gaza City, north Gaza – now all completely bombed & destroyed to rubble & uninhabitable. They escaped death many times making their way, under bombardment, to Rafah, south Gaza near the Egyptian border, to shelter, displaced, in tents with no money, no ability to buy food, living under nightly bombardment and fear of death every single hour.
Map below shows their home in the north and their dangerous journey to Rafah. 1.5 million people have been displaced to Rafah.
On May 7, 2024 they had to flee for their lives for the 8th time since October 2023, and are currently in a tent in central Gaza. There are no safe areas in Gaza.
What Will Happen with Your Donations
- I have been successfully getting cash into their hands via Western Union. They use this cash to buy food, water, medicine when available.
- I will use some of your weekly donations to continue to get cash in their hands via Western Union, which they will use to buy food & water and basic supplies for the 12 children, in the partially functioning market. Prices are very high and fluctuate due to the war. They do NOT have access to free food or meals. They DO have access to buy food but they need cash to do so.
- I will regularly update gofundme with an accounting of cash removed and sent to them via Western Union for their food & water purchases.
- God Willing, there will also be enough donations accumulated, after their weekly food expenses, to enable them to pay the evacuation fees to get their family out of Gaza and into Egypt. Once there is enough money to pay for their evacuations, I will wire it to family who have already successfully evacuated to Cairo, who will pay the Hala Travel Company the cash fees required to get the family's full names on the Egyptian evacuation list and they should be able to evacuate soon after. Another Gazan woman I have been helping was successful in getting her husband evacuated from Rafah to Cairo in mid-March through this same process.
- I understand this evacuation process in detail. If you have questions please email me. This evacuation process is still working and people are getting out every day (as of April 2).
- The current fees are $5,000 per adult, $2,500 per child, $1,500 to expedite the process, plus money needed for a month once they get to Cairo.
- 14 adults x $5,000 = $70,000
- 12 children x $2,500 = $30,000
- Expedite fee = $1,500
- Two months' living expenses for 26 people in Cairo for rent, food, medical = $18,500
- Total = $120,000
Every day and every night with every breath I am praying for this family, and the other Gazans trapped, living under bombardment and trying to survive. If you are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, Sikh, any other religion, agnostic, atheist, or any human with a heart please pray for their survival, donate what you can, and please help me raise this money.
