Hello, my name is Gio. Right now, my mom and I are trying to fund an expensive surgery that would save my cat's life. His name is Taz, short for Tazmanian Devil (like in the cartoons!), and Taz is the calmest cat we know. He is about three years old, and most of you are familiar with my cat, Bruno. Taz and Bruno are two peas in a pod; they are inseparable brothers. If there is one thing I want more than anything else, I wish for their brotherhood to last as long as possible.
Currently, Taz is sick, undergoing tests for Feline Urinary Obstruction (FUO), which is most common in male cats due to their anatomy. Due to male cats having a longer urethra than female cats, male cats are more prone to obstruction, and there is a high chance of Acute Kidney Failure in our poor Taz. He could also be dealing with Hydronephrosis, which is a blockage in the kidneys that can cause them to swell and become damaged. Due to the blockage in his urinary tract, Taz has not been eating properly, going to the bathroom properly, and has thrown up any food that he does eat. Odd, right? He's so fat, he loves eating! But seeing him, for once, not embracing his weight (lol), breaks our hearts.
Taz's surgery is called a Perineal Urethrostomy in Cats, which aims to permanently widen the urethra, preventing future blockages and easing urination for Taz.
Taz has been such a special soul in our family, bringing us together more times than we can count. If there is anything you can do to help, please send something our way!
