Hello Jindo and broader dog community!
We need your help. Szeth is undergoing emergency stabilization and plasma-transfusion following a suspected rat poisoning at our local dog park. We know Szeth has touched many of you with his goofy antics and needs help to recover to get back to his usual, fantastic self.
Szeth has, in his short life, managed to escape the dog meat trade (he was rescued from HSI Farm 15), be rehabilitated in Korea, flown to the US, kenneled by Lost Dog Rescue, and finally found his furever family here with my husband, me, and our rambunctious corgi, Kip. We frequently call Szeth "the most polite dog in the world" and over the last 7 months, has blossomed into a loving, non-fearful, perfect family dog. Szeth is a once in a lifetime dog and I really couldn't imagine life without him. He's finally overcome his trauma and was settling into his new life.
Now Szeth is fighting for his life at the Life Center emergency vet after someone either accidently or purposefully placed rat poison in our community dog park. After enjoying a fun run this morning, Szeth cuddled up next to Joe on the couch before losing some coordination. Within 10 minutes, Szeth fell down, vomited, and collapsed. 10 minutes and all the adrenaline in our bodies later, Szeth was at the hospital in severe shock. He's currently in guarded-stable condition and has regained the ability to sit up.
Szeth's total vet bill is expected to be ~$9,000 if he can come home tomorrow. With COVID leaving our house as a single-income family, our savings can not nearly cover the cost of this hospitalization. We will pay it, which leaves us at risk of losing our housing- the only home Szeth has ever known. We have reported the incident to dog park's owner and to local authorities.
