My name is Tori and I am raising money for my sweet baby, Nikita. My son found Nikita in the pouring rain in the middle of the road late at night in July. She was only about 4 months old, scared and starving (photo included). He brought her home and we fell in love with her sweet demeanor. In January, I noticed that she was wetting herself while she was sleeping. She was treated twice for UTIs before the vet decided to do an ultrasound. Her ultrasound came back abnormal. Her right kidney is swollen with urine all the way down to her bladder. The vet referred her to an internal medicine doctor where they repeated the ultrasound. They were able to determine that Nikita has ectopic ureter and possibly ureterocele but were unable to get a clear view of everything that may be going on. The internal medicine doctor has referred her to NC State Nephrology. I have spent $2000 on Nikita's ultrasounds and exams so far. The doctor has stated that she will need further testing to determine exactly what is wrong. The 2 additional tests that need to be done will be $6,000 and that is not including the $3500 for ectopic ureter surgery.
Nikita is approximately a year old and is such a happy girl. She loves wrestling with her brother, Starvin Marvin, who my son also found in the middle of the road starving. They are bonded and love to wrestle. Nikita's favorite thing to do is to go to the dog park. She is so gentle with the other dogs when she wants to play, gently reaching her paw out. Her human friends at the park think she is the sweetest. She deserves to live out a full life. Without help, I will not be able to get the testing and surgery she needs to be able to do that.
If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. Anything is greatly appreciated. Please share Nikita's story. Her first visit to NC State was scheduled for September but after reviewing her case with the internal medicine doctor they believe that they need to expedite seeing her to limit the risk to her kidney. Her first visit will be near the end of April and the testing will be limited to the funds that I have. Thank you for reading Nikita's story.
