On Monday, February 17th around 2:35pm, my 15-month-old Shiba Inu puppy named Sushi snapped off of his leash at the corner of Short Beach and Ozone in East Haven. He was running in the road when the driver of a sedan clipped him; the driver did not slow down or stop.
Sushi’s back left leg and torso sustained most of the impact, leaving him with a badly-fractured femur and pneumothorax (air in lungs leaking). The wonderful team at Central Hospital believes he can keep his leg with surgery, and that his lungs will be okay after a couple days of monitoring.
That said, the price of his surgery and hospital stay is steep. Please, help Sushi’s family cover these costs and get Sushi back on his paws.
