Suki is a gentle, sweet-natured rescue cat who has been in foster care for several months, charming everyone she meets with her soft purrs and curious eyes. Recently, while at her loving foster home, Suki faced an unexpected and life-threatening emergency.

In just a moment, she brushed against or ingested pollen from a lily—something many people don’t know is extremely toxic to cats. Even a tiny amount can cause sudden kidney failure, and without immediate veterinary attention, it can be fatal.

Last night, she was rushed to the emergency vet, and the incredible ER team at VERG worked quickly to monitor her vitals and run tests. While Suki is getting thorough care, we’re all too aware that with lilies and cats, things can change on a dime. Our challenge: the emergency visit leaves us with a significant bill. We can’t imagine not trying to do everything to keep Suki safe, but the costs are prohibitive.
