Sweet Sugar’s Road to Recovery: Help Her Walk Again
Donation protected
Hi! I am an animal lover, which is why when this little girl came across my path, I couldn't help but take her in. Her name is Sugar and she is the runt of the litter but honestly the sweetest, most loving dog you will ever meet. When we rescued her, she was 3 months old and weighed only 10 lbs. She was unable to stand and had no energy or ability to hold herself up. It is truly a miracle that she survived. She is a Husky/Shepherd/Pyrenees mix and is now 11 months old.
Over the last 8 months, we have discovered that she has elbow dysplasia in both of her front legs, which we are watching and managing as there is nothing that can really be done. As if that wasn't enough, she developed a limp, and in January of this year, we had x-rays done and found that she has luxating patellas, which means her knees keep coming out of joint. Two weeks ago, we had to go see the vet again and found out that her right knee is severe to the point it is always out of joint, so every step is painful. She is at a 3 on a 1-4 scale, with 4 being inoperable.
In an effort to give this young baby a better quality of life, we need to get her knee surgery, which we just found out costs $5,000 - $6,000! We need help as we just don't have that, and I cannot fathom her not being around. Each day she gets worse to the point that she is almost not able to walk. So we are stepping out there and scheduling the surgery in hopes of finding people like ourselves that want to help. If you can help with any amount, we would be so grateful! **All funds raised will go strictly to Sugar's surgery. Any additional funds raised will be donated to other dogs in need.
