Sueños de Salsa has been one of the cornerstones of the salsa and bachata community in Seattle for close to a decade. Over the years, Michael Cahn, Sueños’ owner and principal instructor, and his dedicated group of teachers have trained hundreds of local dancers, provided the dance community with outstanding team performances, and hosted countless socials. Now Sueños needs our help to survive the Covid 19 Pandemic.
As you know, the dance community has been hit hard by Covid 19. Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, Sueños has been unable to hold any regular group classes, which historically have provided the studio with the vast majority of its income. As a result, Sueños has been unable to pay the rent on the studio space that it leases.
Sueños’ landlord has made clear that once city and state Covid 19 related eviction protections lapse, the studio will be responsible to pay the outstanding balance of rent owed immediately. Sueños will simply not be able to pay this staggering amount without help.
We are asking you to please donate what you can in order to help with the outstanding rent that will be due and owing as of March of 2021. Without our help it’s very likely that Sueños de Salsa will have to shut its doors, perhaps permanently. This would be a tragic loss to Michael and his family personally, but also to the salsa and bachata community at large. Any help that you can give could really make the difference in the survival of Sueños de Salsa, and allow us ALL to return dance floor in 2021 in full force.
