Stephen's Green Shopping centre is a significant part of the Dublin city landscape. This is a home to Irish - owned businesses, a generous public space as well as a beautiful and unique structure that compliments the city centre. Yet it is currently under threat of reconstruction by private investors who are planning to replace the building. The new plans drawn up are vulgar and negligent. They are not environmentally friendly nor public friendly. The new building will be filled with office spaces, which this city does not need more of.
We are asking for funding for an appeal against the building's reconstruction as well as funding for objections made by the public. As citizens of the capital who already suffer from a lack of city planning and destruction of beloved community spaces, we should not let the government dictate our environment. We will try our best to protect what is best for us.
