On Monday, Sept. 9th, I went to leave my house through the garage door and found this sweet puppy curled up on my back doorstep. I know that I am not like the majority. I am overly sympathetic to animals (especially strays), and I couldn't just shoo her away and go about my day. I had to leave to get Charlie from school and thankfully a great neighbor (thanks Christina and kiddos) was able to get her into my backyard.
Today, I noticed blood in her stool. I called my vet, and immediately took her in. Unfortunately, what was the worst possible outcome, was true. She tested positive for Parvo and without intervention, she could be dead in 48 hours. Some may say that I brought this on myself by bringing in a stray, and while that may be true, sometimes my heart just won't let me walk away.
We never ask for help. Ever. But this unexpected cost of treatment hurts. I had to decide in a moment to pay this, wait for the expected, or put her down. With my husband reminding me that this was one of the reasons why he married me, we decided to pay for treatment. We couldn't in good conscience not even try.
If you're able to help, any donation - big or small - will go directly toward Skye's (Charlies chosen name for her) medical bills and recovery. If donating isn't possible, even sharing this page or keeping Skye in your thoughts means the world.
This little pup showed up on my doorstep for a reason, and I want to give her a chance to live a happy and healthy life whether it is with us or she's adopted out to another loving family. She didn't deserve this.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Courtney, Robby, and Charlie
