Save Sky: Tai's Beloved Cat Needs Your Help
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
My name is Mahri and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my sister and her emotional support kitty, Sky. A few nights ago, Sky was brought to an overnight emergency vet based on an issue where he was straining while using the bathroom and crying loudly when he couldn’t. He had a crystal urine blockage four years ago, so we assumed that was the case this time around, as they are very common in male tabbies. Instead, he’s been diagnosed with FLUTD (Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease), which we were told has a higher percentage of fatality in male cats and is a lifelong disease that needs consistent treatment. Thankfully, we caught it in time and were able to receive the needed medications (amoxicillin and gabapentin) to administer at home and keep a watchful eye for the next forty-eight hours to see if he was getting better or not.
However, as of four AM, November 23rd, 2024 — Sky is back at the emergency vet for a 24-hour stay due to an inflated bladder, urinary blockage and a harsher strain. The cost for this stay was five grand ($5,000), which was only able to be paid for by maxing out a plethora of different credit cards, as well as taking out funds and savings needed for rent and other utilities.
Sky is the backbone of our family and the heart of my sister, Tai. In 2019, Tai lost her first cat, Luke, ( also a male tabby ) to a freak accident that allowed little to no room for coping. I found Sky a few days later, freshly born out in the wild. Ever since I brought Sky home, Sky and Tai have been very emotionally bonded. (You cannot think of Tai without thinking of Sky, and vice versa.) Considering a previous loss, this situation is and has been very dire and detrimental to Tai’s emotional health as we all cannot bear to lose another fur baby.
Any donation would be super appreciated, as rent is due in a week and all of our funds are catered entirely towards ensuring Sky gets the best care possible and has the necessary aftercare supplies to ensure we have the upper hand against this disease. Thank you all for taking your time to read this and if you cannot donate, please share this story around — the more traction the better.
